Tent Town Garden Club Canada 150 Circle of Friends Project
— September 29, 2017 by Teresa McKay, Tent Town Garden Club —
The Tent Town Garden Club is happy that their Canada 150 Circle of Friends Project is complete! They met their goal of installing the cement pad, sidewalk and sign before the snow.
The existing material was removed, the cement forms were installed, and the next day the concrete was delivered. It has a beautiful exposed aggregate finish that is slip resistant. The Club hopes this rest area will be used for many years by the entire population of Minitonas as well as all who visit.
This surface and the new sidewalk make the picnic table and garden accessible for wheelchairs as well as the young and not so young! It will require much less maintenance and will make it easier to keep the rest area looking tidy.
The new Canada 150 Circle of Friends sign was unveiled with the community and friends invited for cupcakes and coffee on Friday September 29th. A beautiful sunny day was enjoyed by all!
The Club was pleased to work with a couple of local businesses. Grazier manufacturing designed and created the signage labeling the area as a Canada 150 initiative. Cement Works was fast, friendly and efficient in preparing and delivering the concrete Circle of Friends sidewalk and picnic area base.
The Club commends the Community Foundation for its great work in supplying funds to help local groups and organizations do various things in the Swan Valley. The Club sincerely thanks the Foundation for choosing to assist with a grant this year.
