The First Baptist Housing Corporation operates the Pioneer Baptist Lodge in Minitonas. When a hailstorm did major damage to the 36-year-old roof, the insurance company would pay only for new shingles. After careful deliberation, the corporation decided to replace the shingles with tin, and The Community Foundation helped with the extra cost in price.
The Lodge has 12 single apartments, primarily rented by seniors, but any age can apply. The facility allows seniors who no longer want to live in their homes, to stay in their community to enjoy all that it has to offer. This is another example of how the local foundation is there to help keep this valley a wonderful place to live.
