Thanks in part to a scholarhsip established through The Community Foundation of Swan Valley by the late Dr. Rex Leach and his wife Beverly, Candace Wenzel is now in her third year of studies at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.
When she was only five years old, Candace remembers watching Dr. Leach perform a caesarean section at his old clinic and says it left her with lasting impression about what she wanted to do with her life. This past summer she worked at the local vet clinic where she received a lot of hands-on experience that she would never have had anywhere else. Veterinarian medicine is a combination of both science and art which Candance says is “a constant and a continuous learning experience”
Candance Wenzel is only one of many young valley students to benefit from scholarships and bursaries made possible through the Community Foundation of Swan Valley.
